The Coastal Program was established in 2005. The goal of the program is to conduct scientific investigation into coastal issues in the Pontchartrain Basin to inform advocacy for coastal restoration initiatives, to ensure the sustainability of coastal ecosystems for future generations. The guiding principles of the program are the Multiple Lines of Defense Strategy and the Comprehensive Habitat Management Plan.
