The New Canal Lighthouse Safely Stays Open

The New Canal Lighthouse has adapted quickly to being open during an ongoing pandemic. The lighthouse is open for tours, but we encourage you to call ahead of time. We are also starting a lunch reservation program. What better way to take a break from a day full of Zoom calls than to catch a breeze off the lake in the shade of the lighthouse while you enjoy lunch? Make sure to pack or pick up your own lunch! We have a limited amount of socially distanced seating, so reservations are required.
If you can’t visit us in person make sure to check out our online store for great deals on coloring books and educational kits. These are perfect for keeping young minds occupied and engaged during this difficult time. We are always getting new items including updated branded goodies! Also if you add a donation of 30 dollars or more to your cart when checking out, you receive a free lighthouse tumbler and tote bag.
Our newest virtual tour of the lighthouse museum is still up for viewing! This installment focuses on the light of the new canal lighthouse, our Fresnel Lens. The tour is led by Visitors Services Manager Kate Tannian who explains the history and the mechanics of the beacon at the bottom of the Lake.
During these times of uncertainty, we want the lighthouse to still be available to our community. We are exploring many options to make that possible while keeping you safe. We hope you can join us!
