WHAT IS STORM SWEEP?

Pontchartrain Conservancy hosts Storm Sweep in May 2023 designating the month to clean up the Lake Pontchartrain Basin and promote storm preparedness education. Hurricane season is on the way, and we intend to be prepared!  We'll work together to remove trash and debris around the basin. In doing so, our catch basins can adequately route stormwater out of our neighborhoods and our waterways can be litter-free!

LOVE THE BOOT CLEANUP

To kick off Storm Sweep 2023, Pontchartrain Conservancy will partner with Keep Louisiana Beautiful and host a cleanup as part of their "Love the Boot" Week on April 22, 2023 (Earth Day).
Our volunteers will come together to show their love for Louisiana. Love the Boot Week is dedicated to cleanup and beautification events in all 64 parishes across our great state. Together we can take positive steps to create a better life for all of us and protect our state from litter.

Storm Aware & Prepare

Storm Sweep 2023 will conclude with not one, but two Storm Aware and Prepare events! Storm Aware and Prepare is hosted by Pontchartrain Conservancy, in partnership with NOLA Ready. Storm Aware and Prepare is a free, family-friendly event providing hurricane supplies, information, and coastal restoration education.

There will be supplies giveaways, resources from our many partners, hands-on activities for kids, and more! All set against the beautiful backdrop of Lake Pontchartrain, Storm Aware and Prepare will be held at our New Canal Lighthouse. Stay tuned for more information!

CLEAN SWELL APP

In addition to the "Love the Boot" cleanup, you can choose the cleanup location that best fits your schedule or participate in multiple cleanups. Create your own event and track your results in the Clean Swell app!
