For more than 30 years, the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation has been a leader in coastal sustainability, water quality and environmental education.

Thanks to your support, our organization has become a beacon of success for organizations around the country who look to our scientists as experts in environmental preservation.

As we enter our fourth decade, the organization is ever expanding to serve Louisiana’s Pontchartrain Basin in the face of a coastal crisis. The reputable work of our storied organization has never been as vital as it is right now; more than 2,000 square miles of Louisiana’s coastline have vanished since 1932.

With an imperative to protect what’s left and help rebuild what we can, we have decided to redefine the organization and its name to better portray our mission.

We are thrilled to announce we are now Pontchartrain Conservancy.

We have chosen our new name and brand to better communicate the progression of the organization and the focus of our crucial work. Our new tagline, “Science for Our Coast,” further defines our expansion from a singular focus on Lake Pontchartrain to the entire basin and Louisiana’s coast.

With this new name, Pontchartrain Conservancy will carry on the same legacy that you’ve generously supported for more than three decades through the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation — a depth of scientific knowledge, an understanding of the pertinent challenges affecting the basin region and a proven track record in finding practical solutions.

Pontchartrain Conservancy will continue the vision of a healthy, prosperous and resilient Pontchartrain Basin in Louisiana for generations to come. As our region faces increasing environmental threats and challenges, our programs have never been as vital to Louisiana, and to the nation, as they are today.

You are essential to the success and the long-term continuity of our work. We rely on the support of individuals and organizations throughout our community. We must continue to work together to maintain the basin’s vibrancy while saving our coast.

Thank you, as always, for your support.

Sincerely,

Kristi Trail
