Pontchartrain Conservancy is hosting its 11th annual Lights on the Lake holiday celebration – a family-friendly, holiday event providing the best view of the annual West End Boat Parade on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Hosted at the New Canal Lighthouse (8001 Lakeshore Drive), the event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the parade scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Kate Tannian, Pontchartrain Conservancy’s Lighthouse Programs and Interpretation Manager was recently named the 2024 Sadie Roberts-Joseph Excellence in Community Outreach award recipient by the Louisiana Association of Museums (LAM).

In celebration of its centennial year, the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) has announced Pontchartrain Conservancy, in partnership with the YMCA of Greater New Orleans, as awardees of $100,000.

"There's nothing there right now. It's been totally wiped out," said Joey Carlson, an architect who has been working with New Orleans developer Vincent Marcello on reconstructing the lighthouse that was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina.
