Picnic follows for participants
Pontchartrain Conservancy (PC) held its 4th annual Spring Sweep, a day designated to clean up around the Lake Pontchartrain Basin, on Saturday, March 24, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. PC’s Spring Sweep was held in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup sponsored by Keep America Beautiful. Volunteers, partners, and sponsors helped care for the areas that drain the Pontchartrain Basin by cleaning curbs, ditches, and storm drains on city streets and rural roadways. Designated areas for cleanup around the lake included Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John, St. Tammany, and Tangipahoa parishes.

Stay tuned for next year's date!
Debris picked up by volunteers was recorded on data cards that catalogue and quantify the types and amounts of trash collected. PC forwards this data to local water quality authorities.
To say thank you to the volunteers, on Spring Sweep day PC’s Spring Sweep partners provided a picnic for registered participants. The picnic served as a way to bring together everyone to celebrate the clean sweep of our region. Spring Sweep is an excellent avenue for stewardship and education/outreach. It provides a wonderful opportunity to help in keeping Lake Pontchartrain swimmable.
Thank you to our 2018 Sponsors!
