Madisonville Tree Planting

-
Join us as we plant 600 cypress trees in the Madisonville wetlands and take part in restoring one of Louisiana’s most important coastal habitats.

Forested swamp ecosystems play a critical role in protecting our coast. They help absorb powerful storm surge, stabilize land along our rapidly vanishing coastline, and fight climate change by sequestering atmospheric carbon. By helping restore these essential habitats, you are directly improving the resiliency of our coastal ecosystems and supporting the return of biodiversity to our wetlands.

Event Details & Requirements:
Date: February 27, 2026
Meeting Location: Maritime Museum Dock
Meeting Time: 9:00 AM

The dock driveway will be clearly marked with Pontchartrain Conservancy signs and is easily visible from the Maritime Museum parking lot.

Pontchartrain Conservancy staff will be on-site to help direct volunteers. Volunteers will take a shuttle from the dock to the planting site, which is approximately 5 minutes away by car.

What to Know Before You Go:
Waders and gloves will be provided.
Waders are required for this planting and are not optional.
All volunteers must sign an additional release form prior to planting.
Light, long-sleeve clothing is highly recommended due to sharp grass on site.
Closed-toed shoes with socks are required.
Sunglasses are highly recommended.

We appreciate your help in restoring Louisiana’s wetlands—thank you for being part of the solution!
