LDWF’s Aquatic Volunteer Instructor Workshop
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will be holding an Aquatic Volunteer Instructor Workshop on Wednesday, May 1st, at Pontchartrain Conservancy Lighthouse. The workshop will run from 8:30 to 4:30 and lunch will be provided. This workshop will teach you how to teach others about fishing and fisheries science. We will teach topics such as basic fishing, knot tying, proper fish identification, invasive species, fisheries management and more. There is a $25 registration fee that is returned to you upon your arrival to the workshop. The only reason it would get deposited is if you don’t show up without any prior notification. The fee is simply to reserve your spot. Once certified, you have the ability to volunteer at events where LDWF is requested at or you can borrow our equipment to host your own events. If you’re interested in attending this 8-hour workshop, apply online at: http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/ldwf-volunteer-programs. Feel free to contact Alayna McGarry at (504) 286-4050 or amcgarry@wlf.la.gov with any questions.
