WHAT IS BEACH SWEEP?

August 2022 | Around the Pontchartrain Basin

Our 33rd Annual Beach Sweep is coming up soon! As we head into the peak of storm season, it's more important than ever to get out and clean our streets, parks, yards, and storm drains that are filled with debris. Be a part of Beach Sweep in August and help restore our community while you also put litter in its place. We still encourage you to register to receive approved volunteer hours and track your trash if you can!

Beach Sweep is the biggest community cleanup in Southeastern Louisiana. Last year we picked up trash from our streets, catch basins, and waterways around the basin. All throughout the region, we can care for the neighborhoods and areas that drain into the Pontchartrain Basin. We'll clean curbs, ditches, and storm drains on city streets and rural roadways. We encourage individuals and groups to safely volunteer during August. Help end litter in Louisiana while being a part of the International Coastal Cleanup!

HOW DO I REGISTER?

Email beachsweep@scienceforourcoast.org with questions!

CLEAN SWELL APP

We want to help you track your impact! You can track how much and what kind of debris you picked up through the Clean Swell app.

Rather use pen and paper? You can download a data card here. Please be sure to email us your results so we can share what all of our volunteers accomplished!

StormAware&PrepareAug2022TOYOTA

Storm Aware & Prepare concluded on Aug 20th, 2022 to great success! It was a beautiful day at the New Canal Lighthouse and we gave away all hurricane prep supplies to our community.
