At Pontchartrain Conservancy, our Education Programming provides students valuable formative experiences that help them become a new generation of environmental scientists, engineers and STEM professionals. Pay it forward for the next generation and multiply the impact of your gift this GiveNOLA Day by clicking here.
Take, for instance, Jennifer Argote , soon to be Dr. Argote. As a high schooler at Metairie Park Country Day, Jennifer and her AP Environmental Science class worked with PC to take monthly water samples at Bayou St. John. There they learned the basics of water quality monitoring and how it's used to ensure safe recreation.
Jennifer went on to double major in environmental studies and government at Dartmouth, and she recently returned to pursue a P.h.D. in Environmental Science at LSU. She has quickly become a leader in the region, presenting her work at the last State of the Coast conference and at the upcoming LSU Center for Natural Resource Economics Policy conference.
As Jennifer says, "PC provides great educational programming for local students and helps them to get involved in their local environment." We work with kindergartners right up through college students to help them discover the environmental sciences and why they should help protect our environment - in the bayous and in their classrooms.
Donate to Pontchartrain Conservancy on GiveNOLA Day and help create the scientists of tomorrow who will save our lake and save our coast for future generations.
