Oak Ridge Planting

-
Join us on Saturday, March 14, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM to make a real difference for Louisiana’s coast!

Together, we’ll plant over 350 oak trees on historic ridges in St. Bernard Parish. These oak ridge communities are more than just beautiful landscapes—they provide critical habitat for migratory birds, stabilize land along our vanishing coastline, and help combat climate change by sequestering atmospheric carbon.

Helping restore this essential and imperiled habitat is one of the best ways you can protect Louisiana’s natural and cultural heritage.

Volunteer Requirements & Tips:

Footwear: Closed-toed shoes are required! Boots will be provided, but please bring your own if possible.

Hiking shoes are also highly recommended and can be worn on site instead of boots.

Clothing: Dress for the weather and be ready to get a little dirty! Long sleeves and windbreakers are highly encouraged.

Food & Drink: Water and snacks will be provided, but we encourage volunteers to bring their own water bottles.

Safety Gear: Lifejackets and ear protection will be provided for airboat rides. Volunteers are required to wear both a flotation device and hearing protection while on the boat.

Come be part of a hands-on effort to restore Louisiana’s coast and protect its wildlife—we can’t do it without you!

CORE: Blind River Field Trip May 30

-
Calling all St. James Parish residents!

The Blind River Watershed and surrounding swamp area is an essential wetland area that helps protect St. James and the surrounding parishes from storm impacts. Using community input from 10 charrettes, Pontchartrain Conservancy is creating a wetland restoration plan for the Blind River. In May, we will present the plan to the community and lead a field trip to the Blind River for community members. Stay tuned for dates and updates on this project.
